A Georgia-based day spa with five metro Atlanta sites and two more on the way will launch its first out-of-state location at the Shops at Merchants Walk in Huntsville.

Spa Sydell will join Whole Foods Market, Maki Fresh Sushi Rolls and Japanese Grill, Mountain High Outfitters and Orangetheory Fitness at the $50 million development at the northeast corner of Memorial Parkway and Bob Wallace Avenue. RCP Companies has been in negotiations with Spa Sydell since mid-2014.

Founded in 1982, Spa Sydell opened in the Buckhead neighborhood of Atlanta and is led by Chief Executive Officer Reina Bermudez.

“At Spa Sydell, we are committed to providing guests with the highest quality of services and products in the most convenient ways,” Bermudez said in a statement. “We are dedicated to health, wellness and results as we continue to expand our business and spa offerings.”

Officials said the 5,500-square-foot Huntsville location will offer more than 75 customizable spa treatments, as well as several signature and exclusive seasonal services. Customers will have access to facials, massages, manicures and pedicures, airbrush tanning, body wraps and polishes, waxes, microdermabrasion and peels.

The spa will also sell spa day packages and express services for on-the-go customers.

“Spa Sydell is unlike any other spa we have in town and has much to offer Huntsville by taking health, wellness and results to the next level through their top of the line services and quality products,” RCP spokeswoman Lindsay Harper told AL.com. “It will redefine the spa experience and raise the bar for all guests.”

Harper said more tenant announcements are coming soon.

The Shops at Merchants Walk, which includes a Regions Bank branch and parking garage, broke ground in June 2014. Whole Foods, a 42,000-square-foot organic and natural foods retailer with a store in Birmingham, will employ 175-200 workers when it opens.

Shane Davis, the city’s director of urban development, has said the shopping center will generate approximately $58.75 million in new sales taxes and $1.4 million in property taxes over 25 years.

RCP Companies is also involved in the downtown CityCentre at Big Spring, a $70 million mixed-use project at the former Holiday Inn near Big Spring International Park. Expected to break ground in April, the first phase will feature a new-to-market boutique hotel, parking deck, 30,000 square feet of restaurants and retail stores, 53,000 square feet of office loft space and 200 multi-family apartments.
