Each day the highly anticipated Whole Foods Market gets one step closer to a grand opening. However, before they can stock the shelves, they must stock the staff. The niche market store is looking to hire between 150-200 qualified applicants from the Tennessee Valley.
Whole Foods Market is an impressive 44 thousand square food market place that strives to give an experience in The Shops at Merchants Walk.
“I’d say it’s our culture with our team members,” Explains Whole Food Market Store Leader, Jeremy Barnes, about his store.
“It’s the passion and knowledge our team members have.”
Barnes has been with Whole Foods for the last 14 years, and he sees Huntsville’s location off the Parkway as a success store in the making.
“Huntsville seems to be very welcoming to us,” said Barnes.
“It’s very outdoorsy and very food conscious. Our store here is tailored to give a good wine selection and place to hang out.”
The new store is looking for a certain type of personality and skill set to bring the store to life.
“We want people that are passionate about something.” Said Barnes, a must-have to work in any role.
“In food cooking, cake decorating, all things, that’s what we are looking for. We always say we are going to give you an apron and hat, but you have to bring passion and attitude from home.”
And if you do, you can take a base wage of $11 an hour back home with you.
“That’s extremely competitive in most markets and we hear its welcome here too.” Explains Barnes.
Whole Foods Market is looking to fill all positions. This Wednesday and Thursday the Career Center will host group session with potential team members at 10:30, 11:30 and 1:30 p.m., but space is limited. Between the two days the sessions can see 150-300 applicants. You must register for the sessions in advance by Tuesday at 5 p.m. Email Cynthia Crowder at hireme@wholefoods.com to register for the sessions. If you are unable to make these session times you can apply online here.
